More Booties

Some little booties I made for Ara, she's outgrown the fleece ones already! These ones are made from some mens suiting material and are therefore cooler than the polar fleece I made the others with. I also made these a bit narrower and taller, they look really cute on but are a bit difficult to get on her chubby ankles.

I made these for a baby gift. They are a bigger size, for about a 1 year old or so and so I added the non slip sole to them. I think it actually looks pretty cute. They are for a baby not yet born so I don't know if they are for a boy or a girl, thus the brown buttons. I figured that was pretty gender neutral! I am also guessing that now the mama to be knows what she's getting for a baby gift, but oh well :)

Handy Husband

Travis recently finished up a new bow for me. It's amazing. Seriously, the bow is so pretty, it shoot so nice, and for being only a 30lb draw weight it shoots arrows pretty darn fast. I've gotten to shoot it a couple times now but not as much as I'd like to due to still healing abs. I have a feeling though, that this bow will force the official retirement of my compound. I couldn't be happier!

arrows and quiver were also made by Travis... for someone who never really sews he sure knows how to use a sewing machine!

So Small

I realize it's been forever since I've posted anything not to do with Ara but really that's because so far my life hasn't been anything but Ara! (and that is a good thing)

An Outing

We finally had a nice warm spring day that wasn't accompanied by huge winds so we packed up the kids, dog, and bows and headed out to the range for a perfect day!
It was so nice to get out as a family and have a great time. Trav recently finished a new bow for me and I managed to get about 6 shots off before my stomach started to hurt (abs not quite healed yet) so I was happy to at least try it out. Kaed really got into shooting out there and found shooting at 3D targets a grand time. He's still talking about the moose he shot!
**I finally finished my post on Ara's birth story. To read it go here

First Sewing Project

I've been looking for a good bootie pattern or tutorial online the last few days and I finally found a fantastic one! Dorothy at Come What May and Love It has a great tutorial with a pattern and some really clear instructions. I whipped up 2 pairs for Ara in about and hour and half so I'm happy.
So here's to my first sewing project since Ara was born!

Birth Story!

Ara Aviendha
8lbs 3oz
21 inches long
Born April 4th at 6:20pm

Okay here it is finally! Ara's birth story...

So the night of April 3rd I woke up a couple times during the night with somewhat painful contractions. This didn't really surprise me because I had been getting a lot of braxtons hicks for the past couple of months but they did feel a bit different than usual. I didn't think much about it because I didn't want to get my hopes up but during the day on April 4th I had the odd one here and there and I could definitely tell they were more the real deal. I definitely wasn't in labour but I thought it was likely coming soon. At 4pm I was suddenly hit with a contraction that actually hurt quite bad. Enough to make me stop and just wait for it to end. It was also enough to make me go get Travis from his shop where he was working on a couple of projects and ask him to come watch the boys so I could get in the shower. I had one more contraction in the shower (5 mins later) and I suddenly knew that this baby was coming fast. I got out of the shower and sure enough 5 mins after the last one another hit so I yelled down to Trav to get his stuff together. We managed to get out of the house by 5:05pm and were at the hospital at 5:30. I had one contraction in front of my nurse and she decided she better check me and sure enough I was already 8cms dilated so they got me into a delivery room right away. We were at the hospital for an entire 50 minutes before Ara was born! What a quick delivery!
There were so many things about her birth that I loved. I loved that I got to go into labour on my own this time (I was induced with both boys), I loved that when I got to the hospital I told my nurse I didn't want any drugs this time and then was told by her 5 mins later that I would be getting my wish because there wasn't any time for drugs! I loved that despite the pain I was able to feel everything and therefore could be so much more pro-active in getting her out. I loved the moment when they told me she was a girl, and the subsequent moments every few minutes of every day when I realize again that I did in fact have a girl this time! I love that she came out so quickly and everything went so smoothly. I love how quick my healing time has been and I love that because of that I have the energy I want to enjoy not only Ara but also my boys and the beautiful spring weather.
So there you have it! I couldn't ask for a more perfect delivery!

Can't Get Enough...

none of us around here can seem to get enough of our baby girl. It's so different having another girl in the house and SO NICE, I think I could get used to this :)

Also... can I just say that your Mom always knows you best? Yup that's right, my Mom was the closest guesser for the baby pool! She was only just over 4 hours off on the time so that's pretty darn close! So thank you to all who entered and Mom I hope you like the clutch!

I hope to have the birth story for you in my next post... it's an interesting one!

Well we had a baby girl last night! Ara Aviendha was born on Easter Sunday at 6:20pm after a very quick labour! I'll post more about the birth story later as well as the winner of the giveaway. Right now I'm off to go stare at my little girl some more :)

Overdue

Well I'm 2 days overdue and trying really hard to remember what a tiny newborn baby looks like when my kiddos are just so big.

Better Day

Today was a better day. I woke up feeling worse but after napping in the morning I feel like maybe I might be on the mend, cold wise. My dad is in town now so he's been here helping me out this afternoon and my mom comes tomorrow morning so I should be able to get a lot of rest this weekend! Here's to hoping baby comes while there are so many people to watch the boys!
I kept the boys entertained today by getting them to help me dust. Who would have known it could be so fun?
