It's getting lighter!

I've had the same diaper bag now for a year. It has been a great bag, nice and big, looked great, held tons of stuff but it's now starting to look pretty shabby. Nevermind the fact that I really don't have to haul that much stuff around anymore. A newborn requires ridiculous amounts of gear, and a newborn and a 16month old really mean a lot of stuff, but a 2 year old and a 1 year old? Not so bad!

So I decided to finally make myself a new diaper bag! It's smaller which ultimately means it will be lighter because I won't be able to take as much along and this makes me happy!

The pictures aren't great but after spending 2 hours on this bag I really didn't feel like spending another 10 minutes trying to get great photos...

Seriously?

The youngest had his 1st birthday party yesterday... I don't really know what to think! I thought that Kaed's first year went fast but it was nothing compared to this. Does time go by faster the more kids you have?

Here are some great facial expressions from the big day....

Saskatoons and.... Head Smashing??

Last weekend we went camping with my sister and brother in law out near Fort Macleod, Alberta. We had beautiful weather and picked (and ate of course) buckets full of Saskatoon's just inside our campsite.

We also spent a few hours at Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump. That place is definitely worth checking out! The history behind what all happened there is incredible.

The view from the top of the jump, the tepee's you see in the background are basically rooms you can rent to experience what it would be like to live in a tepee. Pretty cool huh?

Kaed was a little disappointed that he wasn't quite tall enough to see through the huge binoculars

Napi is supposedly the creator of the Blackfoot People. His story is pretty interesting, you can read a bit about it here

One of the tepees inside the museum.

There are a lot more pictures I could share with you, but maybe you should just check it out yourself!

i'm back!

It's summer, I figure it's okay if I only blog once a week right?

Here's what I made today... yup my very first self designed bag! I love it. I just made it out of cheap fabric because it was going to be a trial but it actually turned out pretty good! I wasn't sure if I would be able to figure out the zipper, that's always scared me but I did. For my next one, I'll make it a bit shorter and the zipper a bit longer, I think those dimensions will look better. I'll also attach a strap of the same fabric to the side rather than just a ribbon to the zipper, I couldn't manage it this time because I didn't have enough fabric left.

Confessions of a Pioneer Woman

Oh my. Have any of you ever read the Confessions of a Pioneer Woman blog? If you haven't you have to. It's amazing. Her photos are incredible and her humor is the best. I want her ranch, seriously if I could pack up my kids, dog, and hubby and move in there today... I would. I'd probably even be willing to leave all my material possessions behind.

My friend Jenn first pointed me in the direction of Pioneer Woman and now I can't get enough. I definitely didn't need any more blogs to read but I'm pretty sure I can find the time for this one. Make sure you check out all her posts on the lodge that place is absolutely beautiful. If I had even a smidgen of talent in the home decorating front I would think about tackling some rooms in our house but it hardly seems worth it when we have no plans on staying here permanently. One day... one day we'll have that quarter section or more of land, with an old farm house on it that we'll fix up and add on to and then I'll spend the energy and money on quite possibly ruining it for good but maybe just maybe if I do some copy-cat decorating it might end up okay.

On the whole pioneer/farm land dreams front, here are some more pictures of our recent trip to Saskatchewan. I can't believe I once hated the open sky and miles of prairie.

twitter?

I know, I know, it's been forever since I've posted, but we've been on holidays! We spent just about a week in Saskatchewan with Travis' parents. Half that time we spent out at their cabin and it was just perfect. So relaxing and so much to do. We spent hours shooting our bows, driving the quad, and just hiking around. I also managed to read three books. Yup, three.

Now I have a question for you... twitter? yes? no? stupid? I've kind of toyed with the idea of joining up but it just seems so pointless. I don't know if I want one more thing to update you know? What are your thoughts?

Here's some pics from the holidays!
